REQUIREMENTS
Shortlist runs well under both System 6 and System 7. Be sure that you have installed the latest version of whichever system software family you use. As of this writing, these are System 6.0.7 and System 7.0.1. If you don't have the latest versions, they are available on Nautilus in the Stuff from Apple section.
